Japan Today has published a story about human pyramids.

These are a staple of Japanese sports days with students practicing for weeks to get it right. They are impressive to watch and are usually the centerpiece of a larger display of gymnastics.

According to the story lots of students are getting injured in Kobe. It makes sense to do something about it and I’m surprised parents haven’t taken legal action already. The mayor is asking for them to be optional.

I’ve been asked to help with the practice sessions in the past. This involves standing below the students to catch then when they fall off. Perhaps the fact that they are relying on someone like me to catch students says it all.
