The journey to Consiton to Chapel Stile was quite straight forward. The weather wasn’t quite as hot and it was only 10 miles (compared to 15 miles the day before). Plus the journey was more populated (e.g. passing through Tarn Hows, pictured below).
The campsite at Chapel Stile was quite near to Langdale beck and this rather lovely bridge. It was quite nice being able to sit by the beck and chill out.
Langdale Beck always reminds me of going there to swim/paddle about on a very hot summer’s day when I was a kid. The big rock in the background of the photo below seemed like a giant boulder when I was little although the older kids seemed to be able to climb on top of it.
The walk to Windmere was largely uneventful. Part of this was along the route I took the other month although I did vary it a bit to make things interesting. For those interested in letter boxes (are any members of the LBSG reading this?) I noticed this Victorian specimen.
That stone was massive when we where kids.!! Has it shrunk?
That’s what I was thinking. I guess all of the water has worn it down or I have grown. Not sure which.
