At the corner of Ueno Park is the Museum of Downtown Customs. I wasn’t quite sure what such a museum would hold in store and what “customs” are common “downtown”. It turned out that the museum is a kind of “how people used to live” museum with a few houses/shop recreated. These included a shop that sold the straps for Japanese sandals, a sweetshop (more on that later) and some houses. It wasn’t that big but was nice. It was good to see the kitchens that people used to use in the pre-war era.
