Dagashi are small sweets that kids in Japan used to buy. The equivalent thing we have would be a 10 pence mix. In the Museum of Downtown Customs a Dagashiya (sweetshop) can be seen:

In Osaka I came across a more modern shop that was selling dagashi so I took the opportunity to buy some:

The Hello Kitty sweets were like a sweet folded bread. The money was a chocolate bar. The banana was a banana flavoured chocolate. The small ball things in the top left were chocolatey too. The thing with the wizards hat on contained two sticks of soft bubble gum.
